In December 2004, JISC issued a funding call inviting UK Further and Higher Education Institutions to become early adopters of the next generation of tools to manage access to online resources. Due to ongoing expressions of interest, further funding for this area has been made available and JISC would now like to invite new proposals from institutions to participate in this programme.

JISC Circular 05/05: Early Adopters - Call for proposals

In December 2004, JISC issued a funding call inviting UK Further and Higher Education Institutions to become early adopters of the next generation of tools to manage access to online resources.  Due to ongoing expressions of interest, further funding for this area has been made available and JISC would now like to invite new proposals from institutions to participate in this programme.

Proposals may be submitted by HE institutions funded via the UK funding bodies, FE institutions funded directly by HEFCE, FE institutions in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, or by HE/research resource owners that have key collections or services that are of interest to the educational community. Due to the funding streams now available for this Programme, English FE institutions not directly funded by HEFCE are not eligible to bid for projects. Please see paragraph 18 of the full Circular attached below for further information.

Proposed activity will include the implementation of new technologies within participating institutions, and work on the necessary cultural change and administrative issues that accompany such a move.  See details of the projects funded under the first call for the Core Middleware Infrastructure programme.

Proposals are encouraged from areas of the United Kingdom that are currently under-represented within the programme, particularly Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Funding of up to £50,000 is available for each institution or organisation for a one-year period. Further details of how funding awards will be determined are detailed in the full Circular. Projects are expected to start work in November 2005, and complete no later than the end of October 2006.
