JISC Circular 05/04: Developing Virtual Research Environments

This circular invites higher education institutions in England to submit funding proposals for projects to build and deploy Virtual Research Environments (VREs), based on currently available tools and frameworks.

Funding of £3.2 million is available over two years from the date of award. As a general guideline it is anticipated that projects will be awarded funding of between £50,000 and £300,000, in one of four programme strands, depending on the extent and complexity of the work involved.

Projects should commence as soon as possible, and by not later than 31 October 2004.  A town meeting will be held in London from 11am - 1pm on Monday 19 July 2004 to provide a forum for discussion of the call and its subject matter.  Institutions need to register for this free event and should contact Nicole Harris to do so by 14 July 2004.
