Funding 7/03: Review of the JISC’s monitoring and evaluation activities

The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) is an advisory committee to the UK further and higher education funding bodies which aims to support institutions in their use of the Internet and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) through the funding of services and the management of development programmes.

The JISC monitors and evaluates the impact of its work in a variety of ways. These include direct monitoring and evaluation of its projects and work programmes as well as indirect techniques.  The JISC wishes to commission a formal review of its monitoring and evaluation activities to inform their thinking on future strategic direction.  There are three main strands:

  • Review existing JISC funded monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure they are still relevant, effective and to identify gaps.
  • Consider the appropriate forms of dissemination of information collected from these activities for the JISC, its sub-committees and funded services, support networks and personnel, and the wider JISC community and other organisations.
  • Appraise the management of monitoring and evaluation activities including, but not limited to, the preservation of longitudinal data and its use in showing trends, analysis of evidence and feedback loops.

It is anticipated that the review will commence in early May 2003 and be completed by October 2003. A full invitation to tender is attached to the foot of this page as an RTF file. The deadline for submission of full proposals is 12 noon on 11 April 2003.
