JISC and SCONUL hosted a lecture by Professor Robert Darnton, Director of the Harvard Library. He spoke on the development of the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) and how the US experience can inform developments here in the UK.

The event will be chaired by Professor David Baker, Deputy Chair of Jisc.

      Professor Darnton

      Professor Darnton has been a driving force behind the development of the DPLA. He is a pioneer in the field of the history of the book and has written or edited two dozen books including The Great Cat Massacre and Other Episodes in French Cultural History. He is a founder of the Gutenberg e-program, sponsored by the Mellon Foundation and is a trustee of the New York Public Library.
