Abstract |
This one hour webinar will showcase the new Strategic Information and Communications Technology (S-ICT) toolkit being launched by JISC InfoNet to coincide with this webinar. The webinar will highlight the key features of the newly developed JISC/LFHE toolkit, a variety of deployment models and likely obstacles and possible solutions. Participants will also learn from institutions that have already used the toolkit to initiate real world transformational projects. The use of ICT in supporting the delivery of core business goals has become increasingly important to senior managers; yet research by the University of Nottingham and its partners indicates that institutions differ widely in the maturity of their strategic use of ICT. This webinar will emphasise the importance of constant engagement between senior IS professionals and their institutions' senior management teams. The toolkit includes a range of checklists, case studies and good practice guidelines to help senior managers identify, analyse, assess and develop their current maturity level. The toolkit will help participants to further develop the skills and institutional processes necessary to ensure the UK FE and HE sectors continue to deliver a first class experience for its students and partners. Paul Gentle will describe how LFHE are supporting the on-going usage and championing uptake. After the webinar, participants will enjoy access to the online Strategic information and communications technology (S-ICT) toolkit to help consolidate their new knowledge. Participants will be encouraged to identify a suitable transformation project within their own institution and use the toolkit to identify improvement opportunities. |

By the end of the end of the workshop, participants will: - be able to understand the meaning of ‘Strategic ICT’ and the importance of critical self-appraisal
- be able to describe the key enablers for determining strategic ICT maturity
- have obtained an understanding of the S-ICT toolkit
- be able to identify different deployment strategies
- be enthusiastic towards deploying the S-ICT toolkit to conduct an initial ICT maturity assessment within their own institution at the institutional, faculty, school, department or business unit level.

- Webinars will be run using the Blackboard Collaborate software platform, provided and supported by JISC Netskills
- Participants will need to have the latest version of Java installed on their PC/Laptop - check settings here.
