This JISC 10 conference session will present the findings of three JISC-funded studies which set out to answer that question. Speakers will present the outcomes from the VRE impact reports which were released in November 2009 and will be discussed at an international workshop in Amsterdam in April 2010. Successes and challenges from the JISC VRE programme will be used to inspire delegates to think of ways in which they can improve and support their own success in collaborative projects, leading to long term benefits and sustainable impact.

Session abstract

Virtual Research Environments enable researchers in dispersed teams, often across continents, to collaborate and share their data seamlessly. That, at least, is the vision; but what is the reality?

This session will present the findings of three JISC-funded studies which set out to answer that question.
