Highlights from JISC Conference 2009
The innovative use of Twitter, video live streaming, conference podcasts and blogging to broadcast the JISC Conference 2009 to people who could not be there in person, has been a great example of what the web can offer.

- Over 1,300 messageswere posted to Twitter, making the conference the most discussed event on the site globally for 48 hours
- Keynote speeches from Professor Lizbeth Goodman and Ewan McIntosh
- Over 40 exhibitors including JISC funded services, technology companies, publishers and associations
- Green computing, identity management, legal issues in web 2.0 and open access were hot topics in the break out sessions
- 23 different demonstrations by JISC projects and services, giving delegates the chance to learn about new tools, applications and software funded by JISC
- Comprehensive conference blog was constantly updated by JISC’s team of roving journalists
- Commenting on the conference, David Lammy, Minister of State for Higher Education and Intellectual Property, left a guest post on the JISC Conference blog, sharing his views on web 2.0 technologies within education and asking people to continue debating the topics raised at the conference.
