Sustainability - The drivers and reasons to engage now

Being a green or sustainability aware organisation involves more than recycling paper and switching off unused equipment; it includes most areas of organisational activity. This session provides a snappy introduction to the issues, identifies the drivers on learning providers to take action and provides references to resources and JISC-funded research.

A collaborative approach to support for inclusivity

In 2007, the RSCYH was approached by the local LSC to allocate £800,000 to the regions colleges, some 29 colleges were allocated sums from £56K to £11k. The Excellence in Inclusivity website displays the results of their work. We also hold termly sub-regional Camel forums and an annual Excellence in Inclusivity conference. The work continues with the allocation of a further £350,000 from the LSC Pathfinder Project.

Data Management Plan (DMP) Online

Funding bodies increasingly require grant-holders to produce data management plans (DMPs). The DCC has created /DMP Online/, a web-based tool which draws upon an analysis of funders' requirements to enable researchers to create and export customisable DMPs, both at the grant application stage and during the project's lifetime.

Text mining workflows with U-Compare

The NaCTeM demonstrations and surgery together show how text mining can automate semantic metadata extraction from large-scale document collections. NaCTeM has developed a number of exemplary search tools for special document collections. The NaCTeM demos and surgery also show examples of individual text mining analysis tools, and ways to combine them using the U-Compare workflow platform.
