The View from the ‘Demand Side’ – the Key Concerns of Higher and Further Education Institutions’ Business and Community Partners and Clients

Business and community engagement consultation workshop

Attendance at this workshop is by invitation only

UK higher and further education (HE and FE) institutions are expected to play an increasingly significant role in innovation and skills development, especially through external partnerships. The purpose of this invitation-only workshop is to explore the top concerns of universities’ and colleges’ (actual and potential) partners and clients from business and the community, to inform the JISC BCE programme of work.

This is an opportunity for selected senior representatives from businesses, public sector organisations, charities and others to share their views and experiences on interaction with universities and colleges, and the incentives and disincentives to collaborate. A particular focus will be given to the strategic use of information and communications technology (ICT) to support and enhance this collaboration. We would like your views on themes such as access to the knowledge and expertise resources of UK further and higher education institutions, the visibility of institutions’ business and community engagement (BCE) services (such as knowledge transfer or workforce development), relationship management, partnership working and institutions’ role in the innovation system.

The workshop will be relatively informal but professionally facilitated and we aim to stimulate lively debate, so the day should prove enjoyable, energising and informative.

The workshop will be held at the Said Business School, Oxford. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
