Using learning resources: transforming the educational experience
Download the event presentations
Learning resources can include a wide range of materials including case studies that illustrate pedagogical approaches, to question banks of multiple choice items, images, tools or learning objects. This type of content can be developed by commercial companies or, more usually, within institutions either by teams or individuals at course or module level. Content created by students or teachers during the learning process is also included.
This area of JISC activity is concerned with cultural, institutional, technological and pedagogical issues relating to the development, design and effective use of resources for learning and teaching activities. This conference aimed to take forward a synthesis of the wide range of previous work around e-content and 'design for learning' to encourage an holistic approach to the design of effective learning experiences.
The specific aims of the event were:
- disseminate the 'Sharing eLearning Content synthesis' results
- launch an InfoKit resource which brings together a wide range of project outputs in this area
- disseminate the work of several key programmes - Digital Libraries in the Classroom (DLiC), Exchange for Learning (x4l); SFC eLearning Transformation Programme; Design for Learning (D4L); Community Dimensions of Learning Object Repositories (CDLOR); Distributed e-Learning Programme (DeL); Rights and Rewards in Blended Institutional Repositories; Secure personal institutional and inter-institutional repository (SPIRE); Personal Repositories Online: WIKI Environment (PROWE) and Accessing and Storing Knowledge (ASK)
The event focussed on 5 specific themes:
