JISC

As repository networks have grown interest in their use and their potential has also grown amongst senior policy developers.  An increasing number of funding bodies are now requiring that their funded research is made available on an open access basis.  The European Commission has been looking at the needs of European research in relation to open access and policy development.  Institutions and individual departments have also been looking at policies to encourage individual academics to deposit their research.  This session will review work that is going on in this area from the perspective of Fred Friend as a JISC consultant, work at the University of Southampton into institutional and departmental policies and from the Netherlands, with SURF.
