Abstract: Network and infrastructure

The use of open access repositories depends on a widespread, comprehensive, and integrated infrastructure.  JISC has been instrumental in pushing forward a strategy of national infrastructure development through its funded projects and initiatives over the past four years. This session will look at the current situation through the eyes of three JISC projects - SHERPA Plus; IRI Scotland; RIOJA.

SHERPA Plus, as an expansion of the original SHERPA project, has been working across the UK in promoting the establishment of institutional repositories and has obtained a good appreciation of the current picture of the national repository infrastructure.  IRI Scotland is a comprehensive national initiative to bring together all of the repositories in Scotland into an integrated whole to exploit the advantages of a federated approach.  The new RIOJA project is developing generic repository interface tools for overlay journals, seen by many as a major component of the future repository infrastructure.
