Objectives of the session
This session will be an opportunity to discuss the future of Access
and Identity Management (AIM) in the UK educational
sector. Is a federated approach the end-game or are the
community's current activities a useful stepping stone
to longer-term individualised identity management provision?
What role will OpenID and Microsoft CardSpace play in the middleware
landscape of the future? The discussion will be set in the context of
Eduserv's plans for 'Open Athens' and how we see our services
providing both a viable outsourced option for institutions wishing to
engage with the UK Access Management Federation now, and a
cost-effective investment in the evolving AIM technology
and the growth of federations in the future.
