Joint NDIIP / JISC Digital Preservation workshop
The workshop is co-sponsored by the Library of Congress, National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP) and JISC.
The workshop has two goals. One is to provide an opportunity for those involved with NDIIPP and JISC digital preservation projects and services to exchange information, most especially in connection with findings and progress. In addition to learning from each other, this exchange will hopefully stimulate ideas for ongoing collaboration. The other goal is to map aspects of digital preservation that need more attention, either because they represent gaps in what has been looked at so far or because they are especially promising based on what has been learned to date. In planning for future directions, both nations are building on extensive knowledge gathered over the last few years. It is hoped that this process can be amplified by bringing together a rich set of perspectives from both sides of the Atlantic.
The workshop will be for two days, consisting of presentations, break-out discussions and poster sessions. Representatives from the projects will be joined by delegates from various funding organisations and experts in digital preservation and curation. Workshop speakers in order of appearance include:
William LeFurgy, Digital Initiatives Project Manager, Library of Congress
Stephen Griffin, Program Director, National Science Foundation (NSF)
Sarah Porter, Head of Development, JISC
