Security and Access Management workshop

Developments within the JISC Core Middleware programme

Audience academic research community.

Organisers Sara Hassen (Communications Manager) and Judy Redfearn (Communications Officer) JISC.

JISC is pleased to announce a workshop to introduce Security and Access Management and give an overview of developments within the Information Environment and Grid communities, as supported by its Core Middleware programmes.

Within the past year there have been significant developments towards a federated access management system for the UK based on Shibboleth.  Work has also progressed on ensuring that this new system is compatible with the Authentication, Authorisation and Accounting (AAA) used by the Grid community.  It is important that the Information Environment and Grid communities work together to provide the best solutions for users. This workshop, with leading speakers from both communities, will examine these developments and look for a harmonised way forward.

The speakers will examine the broad strategies for Shibboleth in the morning and will use the afternoon for in depth  discussion of progress made in projects funded under the JISC Core Middleware programme.

This workshop is organised by JISC as one of a series of workshops to introduce JISC-funded work of relevance to the academic research community in the UK. This is a repeat of a similarly titled workshop held at the National e-Science Centre in October 2005.
