My Open education resource of the moment has got to be an old resource, but growing exponentially in terms of usefulness and scope - iTunesU.

I still find it amazing how much world class teaching is available on there for absolutely no cost. Who would have thought, 20 years ago, that I could experience the same lectures as students at Oxford University or top stream, $20k per year, American institutions.

Even beyond that, the general web is becoming one huge OER with the rapid expansion of the FREE ideology. So many commerical enterprises are giving their teachings and skills away for free, in the sure knowledge that perception of expertise and quality will lead to them gaining work. Funnily enough, just this morning I was learning how to make my own compost heap at http://www.lawnsforyou.com - not that long ago I'd have had to pay for a book!

Thursday see's the penultimate #picbod 2012 session (Coventry University's Open Undergraduate Photography class), slap that one in your diary and come to http://www.picbod.org ,there's no password and contrary to web-rumours you do not need to know the secret handshake in order to participate. This week Steve Pyke MBE talks exclusively from his New York studio.
