critical to delivery where international engagement is essential to effective delivery by delivering economies of scale
-
leadership where JISC engages with key influencers to ensure world-class provision
-
expert exchange where JISC leverages expertise from other partners / countries
-
support to the international community where JISC supports opportunities for information exchange and activities
European Commission
With an increasingly open student market and truly global research practice, it is an important part of JISC’s work to get involved and inform the funding programmes of the European Commission.
JISC responds to consultations, such as the recent Green Paper on a Common Strategic Framework for future EU Research and Innovation Funding emphasising how information and digital technologies might improve the higher education experience and research process for academic, scientific and societal benefit.
JISC supports the European Digital Agenda, the European Commission’s strategy towards a ‘flourishing digital economy’. See our video contribution to the first Digital Agenda Assembly, 2011.
Where strategic priorities align, JISC undertakes ERA-NET funded projects: research programmes, at national or regional level. JISC is a project partner in e-Infranet, a group developing policies to reinforce and promote efforts to foster world-class ICT infrastructures. JISC is a project lead for SIM4RDM (Support Infrastructure Models for Research Data Management), an investment by the European Commission to enable researchers to utilise effectively the emerging data infrastructures by ensuring that they have the knowledge, skills and support infrastructures necessary to adopt good research data management methodologies.
International visitors to JISC
JISC frequently welcomes international visitors to discuss developments in ICT for education and research.
Members of JISC are able to support short visits by ministries, organisations and agencies responsible for the national provision and development of ICT for education and research. Please note it is not usual for JISC to support institutional visits.
Owing to the constraints of personnel and financial resources, it may not always be possible to respond positively to requests from visitors or delegations.
