JISC market research and evaluation

JISC Market Research routinely surveys those who come into contact with JISC’s  services and activities to assess the benefit and potential these activities and services have to institutions and end-users.

Additionally JISC Market Research is an important element in developing and improving JISC’s  understanding of the issues, concerns and challenges facing the education and research communities and ultimately for JISC to provide strategic leadership and support.

What we do

  • Provide evidence that demonstrates JISC is offering value for money in the activities and services it provides
  • Measure the impact of JISC's activities and its progress against its strategic aims
  • Improve JISC's understanding and insight of the key issues, concerns and attitudes of the community it serves

How we do it

We use a mixture of commissioned (either directly by us or by other teams within JISC) and in-house research. Specifically we:

JISC Market Research & Evaluation

  • Lead on JISC's corporate approach to demonstrating impact including carrying out perceived impact and value for money studies)
  • Gather market and customer intelligence via market research
  • Obtain market research data on issues (including perceptions and attitudes) faced by JISC's stakeholders (including JISC Services and their 'users')
  • Provide evidence of progress against corporate strategic aims
  • Synthesis and contextualisation of the results of programme evaluations
  • Maintain a record of market research & survey activity across all JISC

Key Audience Survey

JISC Market Research carries out a series of evaluations and surveys throughout the year with different audiences, however the most extensive survey, ‘The Annual Key Audience Survey’ runs annually in November/December each year and is aimed at key individuals within the academic community, currently:

  • IT, computing and network services
  • Libraries and Learning Resource Centres
  • Converged IT and library services

If you a director or head of one of the services listed above your views and perceptions of what JISC provides and does are invaluable to us.
