Terms of reference

• Identified the Communications and Information Technology (C&IT) standards critical to higher education and research in consultation with the community, other JISC committees and interested bodies such as UCISA
• Called for bids for work associated with following the development and promotion of critical standards or commissioned experts in the community to prepare reports, briefings or other materials
• Monitored funded activities, especially delivery of reports or other materials, to ensure value for money
• Ensured the community is aware of the SMSC's activities and remit and establish channels for communication between the SMSC and the community through the JISC web pages
• Considered bids from the community for minor funding to follow other C&IT standards
