Terms of reference
The JOS committee has established a Sub Group as a forum in which to pursue in-depth discussions relating to the rolling focus of its emerging work programme.
The working group will be constituted from members of the JOS committee but invite representation from other committees and experts from the community at large at relevant points, with members of the Executive representing the Services and Development groups.
The sub-group
- Provided input to the full committee’s regular review of the Strategic Framework
- Developed work packages, in conjunction with the JISC Executive, that are in line with the committee’s key principles and identified themes of work
- Considered appropriate levels of funding for the work packages
- Recommended to JOS work packages for approval
- Recommended to JOS potentially new areas of work which can feed into JOS’ ongoing consideration of its themes and priorities, in pursuit of its overall strategic objectives
- Reviewed the reports and outputs from ongoing work and use the information, in conjunction with input from the Executive, to make informed recommendations to JOS regarding future funding
- Supported JOS in identifying synergies with activities undertaken by other organizations, and where appropriate partnership opportunities should be explored
- Took into consideration the work programmes of other committees, in order to identify synergies and avoid overlap
- Provided expert advice to the JISC Executive on developing practices and standards that should be incorporated into the programme
- Offered advice on dissemination, sustainability strategies and evaluation for the work programme
- Met face-to-face, and provide feedback electronically, as required
Sub-group members
- Provided feedback to the Executive on proposals for work packages, invitations to tender (ITT) and calls for proposals under JISC Circulars
- Made recommendations for funding to the full JOS committee, for approval at its regular meetings, or by email if expediency dictates
- Viewed draft and final reports from commissioned work, and provide comment to feed back to the authors prior to presentation at JOS committee meetings
- Made recommendations, on an ongoing basis, for programme activities, in accordance with the development of a rolling focus work plan
