Nominations committee
The Nominations Committee approves new members for the sub-committees in the context of the JISC strategy and obligations.
Terms of Reference
Purpose
-
responsible for agreeing, in consultation with committee chair and secretary, new members to each sub-committee according to the balance of skills, knowledge & experience and diversity identified in the context of the JISC strategy and obligations
-
make recommendations to the JISC Board on policy matters, procedures and selection criteria and to make recommendations to the remuneration committee when appropriate, relating to the appointment of such members

requests that the Funding Councils consult with the Nominations Committee on the appointment of funding representatives to the Board and sub-committees
-
requests that the Funding Councils consult with the Nominations Committee on the appiontment of Board members and Trustees of JISC funded Related Bodies
-
appoints other representatives (previously known as observers) to the sub-committees

responsible for succession planning and renewal of membership prior to the expiry of a term of office.
Functions
-
establish and keep under review a pool of potential members for each committee, to be maintained by the Secretary to the Nominations committee
-
agree and keep under review the person specifications, advertisements for pool vacancies and other recruitment practices, having regard to the terms of reference of each committee
- agree appointments from the pool and appropriate terms of office in each case
-
agree re-appointments/extensions to sub-committee membership, having regard to the appraisal notes of the relevant committee chair and secretary and the changing needs of committees

receive information from the committee chair and secretary on the shortlist applications to be listed in the pool for each committee

to keep under review the UK spread of sub-committee members and equal opportunities and diversity issues

agree and keep under review succession planning process.
