JISC Learning and Teaching committee
JISC Learning and Teaching committee is responsible for supporting the learning and teaching community by helping institutions to promote innovation in the use of ICT to benefit learning and teaching, research and the management of institutions.
Terms of reference
- support the requirements of the learning and teaching community by identifying relevant areas of work appropriate to JISC
- help ensure that appropriate JISC activities remain relevant to the learning and teaching community where appropriate and, if necessary, identify ways in which these activities can be modified or extended to increase their usefulness in the support of learning and teaching. In particular this will include work on the information environment, (including middleware), technology watch and standards, and on-line resources etc
- encourage change management within institutions, by working with others, through ILT and information strategies and appropriate staff development
- facilitate the coordination of the development and deployment of information learning technologies in support of learning and teaching, including technical issues
- integrate the components of a Managed Learning Environment by advising institutions, liaising with suppliers and other agencies (eg CETIS, UfI) as appropriate
- exploit ICTs to improve the student experience including: widening access; aiding mobility of students between institutions; and the effective use of on-line resources, learning objects and other learning and teaching materials
- advise other JISC sub-committees as appropriate and provide a report to each JISC meeting
- liaise and collaborate with other organisations (eg BECTa, Learning and Skills Development Agency, LSDA, University for Industry, UfI, Association for Learning Technology, ALT, Learning and Teaching Support Network, LTSN, DfEE, e-universities and National Science Foundation, NSF)
